The slim for summer challenge!</title><content type='html'>&lt;div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"&gt;Hi guys, hope you're well and are enjoying the sunshine as much as I am and the half of Swindon who feel obliged to get naked just because of a bit of sun. (Pause for breath) Anyway, I thought I would do a weekly post to let you know how I'm getting on in the slimming process. Yes, I know! I've said this before. But I really feel I should be accountable for it so this is the best way to do that. Plus, maybe I can get tips and hints from anyone who is also trying to slim for summer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Basically the challenge, for me, is to lose 2st by August 28th. I also want to be able to get into an old pair of jeans that I used to wear with comfort but can barely squeeze my fat arse in. I would need to lose an average of 1.8lbs to do this. I think this is achievable if I really put my mind to it. I will do this through my ever trusty weightwatchers and running 4 times a week, swimming on Sundays and resistance training 3 times a week. I enjoy these exercises so I feel this will be no problem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What is your slimming for summer challenge?? My new motivation is that I jumped on the scales yesterday morning to discover that I had lost 3 pounds.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I felt that I hadn't made huge changes but I had watched what I'd eaten slightly more and increased my activity levels. Its motivated me to take a more structured approach to improving my health as opposed to reaching a visual 'ideal'.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;My simple plan is to reach a 'happy' weight, inspired by a magazine article I can't recall the name of unfortunately. And the plan has simple rules:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Exercise for and hour 3 times a week (20 mins cardio, 20 mins resistance)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Walk on days that I'm not working out for 30 minutes&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Eat 3 balanced meals a day with a healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Drink 8 glasses of water&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Not really rocket science is it? However, people definately have the all or nothing approach to weightloss. They starve themselves and over-work their bodies to obtain an 'ideal' as quickly as possible.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This is not sustainable and we all know this. If you want to be healthy and consequently look your best (you're 'happy' weight is inevitably your full potential, either side of this is not your full potential).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I hope to get to my happy weight by following the simple rules to health. And my happy weight is 9 1/2st-right smack bang in the middle of my BMI!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here's a wee sample of my food plan:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Breakfast: Oats, honey and seeds, coffee&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Mid-morn snack: low-fat yoghurt and apple&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Lunch: Ham sandwich, mustard and beetroot&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Mid-afternoon snack: 2 ryvitas and organic peanut butter&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Dinner: Lean turkey or steak mince spaghetti bolognese in homemade sauce with wholemeal spaghetti.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I'm finding my new plan easy to stick and of course I'm watching my portion sizes. I was:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;12st 1lb&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;I am now:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;11st 12.4lbs&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;So that's a loss of 2.6 pounds! Yay.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;That's pretty good considering I ate a crap load of 'buffet' food on Sunday night.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"&gt;This week though, I haven't done quite as well. I haven't tracked as I should have and have eaten leftovers Xmas cake and choccies. Naughty Hannah! I'll expect to have maintained or gained. But if I can maybe live on nothing but soup until then, I might have a loss? It was lush. Stands selling musty smelling clothes, shoes and tea sets adorned The Vic. It encourages a long term diet change and review of portion sizes. I intend to modify it slightly by sticking to my ordinary points allowance for the first week and exercising 6 times a week. And then as the weightloss slows down I will cut my points right down. 3 weeks before I set off I will probably just stick to a purely porridge and soup diet to shed the excess pounds quicker. My exercise regime will also be stepped up from an hour a night to 1hr30 a night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My wish (and I know it's a big wish), is to lose 2 stone in 10 weeks. I know it can be done!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I actually go on the 21st March so fingers crossed!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tommorow I'll post a full length pic of me how I am now, and record my weekly progress either via writing or a video. Eeeeee! It's so exciting&amp;nbsp; to know that in a few weeks I'll be embarking on that personal training program and then 6 weeks from then I'll be a fully qualified personal trainer! Just need to find a way to get to Bristol everyday:S&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, in other news, it's the first day of me starting weightwatchers again. Because I initially lost 8 pounds, I'm down to only using 20 points. If you're aware of the WW plan, you know that as you get lighter you use less points i.e. consuming less cals and fat. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So...I'm 11st11lbs, (hefty) and I want to get down to 9st7lbs. I have got a loooong way to go. Anyway, I want to achieve this by May 2011. I think that's a realistic goal and perfectly achievable for holiday season.&lt;br /&gt;It might even fall off quicker because of my new personal training career!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With that said, I'm going to post a few food diaries and details of exercise I'm doing to show you how I will be losing the weight. Today I'm going to my pole-dancing class. I'm Hannah and I'm 22 years of age. Most of my friends have graduated, or are close to graduating, university and the other lot are already forging their prospective careers in a 9-5 office. The point is, they all seem blissfully settled in a destination or on the road to realising their dreams. I, however, are not like my friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Much to the frustration of my parents I am what they call a 'free spirit'. I jump from job to college, college to job, another job, back to college again. Phew, having itchy feet is exhausting! I currently work as a Christmas Temp at Boots, I have a diploma in art and design, I have once been a dental nurse. Why oh why have I not been content with any of these occupations? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The answer is: because I'm not looking for contentment, I'm looking for something special. I am not the girl who works as a Christmas Temp, I am the girl who used to aspire to be a pilot. I am the girl who over achieved at school. I am also the girl who got lazy after I got a boyfriend :s&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, here I am trying to find my vocation in life. The job that isnt just a job, but a lifestyle. So what will this incredible career move be?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, I have known from an early age that I wanted to write. I didn't want to be a tabloid journalist or an author, but I wanted to write about my own experiences. Blogging is the perfect medium for that. But I want to make a living out of it right? Therefore my blog would need to attract enough followers to be able to sell ad space and give me a better chance of my work being published in magazines or newspapers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I thought about all the things I was interested in and could blog about: fashion, music, illustration, beauty, cooking, fitness,&amp;nbsp;literature. All things that I felt were either too saturated&amp;nbsp;by the blogging community or I wasn't devoted enough to them. Plus, I didn't want to limit myself to one genre. It occured to me that I could combine my interest in&amp;nbsp;food, fitness, beauty and a whole series other categories in a health and well-being blog.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Freelance Health Writer. This is to be my new job title, my 'about me'. But I can't be taken seriously as a health writer unless I'm a practicing health professional? Well, this is where I have decided to fulfill another dream of mine: to become a fully qualified personal trainer. That way I can sustain a living,&amp;nbsp;combine my customer service know-how&amp;nbsp;with my&amp;nbsp;love of all things diet and fitness, AND gain knowledge and tips to share with you lot as a health writer.
